Porter Commences Ottawa – Winnipeg Services

Porter Airlines Will Be Launching Ottawa-Winnipeg Flights

On May 16, 2024, the Canadian operator Porter had commenced a new daily service between Ottawa and Winnipeg.

This article will cover the details surrounding Porter’s new service between Ottawa and Winnipeg, and comments from their seniors.

Porter: New Service Between Ottawa & Winnipeg

Further expanding their operations out of Ottawa, Porter has commenced a new daily service to Winnipeg. The service will be operated by the carrier’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

The Canadian operator currently has 33 E195-E2s with a further 42 on order from the Brazilian manufacturer. Each aircraft has a total of 132 seats in a 2-2 configuration.

By this upcoming summer season, the operator will have 16 non-stop routes out of Ottawa. Not only this but passengers travelling from Winnipeg will be able to connect to the following destinations –

  • Boston
  • Charlottetown
  • Fredericton
  • Halifax
  • Moncton
  • New York
  • Thunder Bay
  • Toronto-Pearson
  • Toronto-City
  • St John’s

Senior Comments


Firstly, commenting on their new Ottawa – Winnipeg service, Kevin Jackson, Porter Airlines’ President, says. “This summer, Porter is set to offer more daily flights from YOW than any other carrier. Increasing destinations and frequency shows our continued commitment to bringing more service to Ottawa and improving overall travel options for the region.”

Secondly, adding to Jackson’s comments, Mark Laroche, President and CEO of Ottawa International Airport Authority, says. “We are thrilled to congratulate Porter Airlines on the launch of their new non-stop service to Winnipeg, Manitoba.”

“This route marks another significant milestone in Porter’s rapidly expanding YOW hub operation, further enhancing connectivity for travellers. As Canada’s capital region airport, it is crucial that YOW maintains excellent air service to provincial capitals like Winnipeg, strengthening ties between our communities.”

“Both Ottawa-Gatineau and Winnipeg offer an array of exciting attractions and events for people to enjoy, making this new operation a welcome addition for travellers seeking seamless access to these vibrant destinations.”

Finally, Nick Hays, President and CEO, Winnipeg Airports Authority, says, “We’re thrilled to see Porter Airlines expand its presence at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport and help us deliver more flights to more places that matter.”
