Porter Airlines has announced its peak season schedule for its hub at Toronto Pearson Airport for Summer 2023.

The new schedule from Toronto will see increased frequencies on all of its core routes as the peak summer season rolls around.

Route increases from 1 June

The increase in frequencies on these routes will benefit the passenger massively as it will provide plenty of option for travellers flying directly out of Toronto or connecting through the airport.

The new schedule will come into effect on the 1st June, with all routes seeing a number of flights added that are well distributed throughout the day.

In addition, some of the routes will see further increases come August.

Commenting on the new schedule, Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer for Porter Airlines said:

“Porter is known to provide high frequency, daily service on its core routes. Consistent with this approach, we’re continuing our planned growth at Toronto Pearson and investing to provide passengers with the travel options they value”.

He added, “Travellers can count on even more flights being added to these markets, as well as entirely new destinations being announced in the coming months”.

“Porter is setting out to elevate the economy travel experience and offering frequent flights is another way that we’re serving the needs of business and leisure travellers”.

The Schedule

The list below shows all the routes at their peak frequency from August 2023:

  1. Toronto (YYZ) – Ottawa (YOW): 3 flights per day
  2. Toronto (YYZ) – Montreal (YUL): 4 flights per day
  3. Toronto (YYZ) – Halifax (YHZ): 2 flights per day
  4. Toronto (YYZ) – Vancouver (YVR): 5 flights per day
  5. Toronto (YYZ) – Edmonton (YEG): 3 flights per day
  6. Toronto (YYZ) – Calgary (YYC): 3 flights per day

All of these flights are scheduled to see the airline’s brand new E195-E2 aircraft, however, should aircraft availability become an issue, Dash 8-400 aircraft may fill in on the odd occasion on the Ottawa route.

AeroRoutes also went into detail as to when each flight will see its increase in flights both during June and onwards. According to AeroRoutes, Calgary and Edmonton will increase from 2 to 3 daily from the 1st of June.

Also on the 1st of June AeroRoutes notes that the Vancouver route will increase from 3 to 4 daily and then jump further to 5 daily from the 9th of August.

The other change on the 1st of June will be the Montreal flight increasing from 3 to 4 daily, however this will drop back to 3 daily temporarily between the 2nd of July and 8th of August.

In addition, based off Porter’s website flights to Halifax and Ottawa will already increase to their peak frequencies before 1st of June.

Gearing up for summer

Overall this change in schedule shows that Porter is getting ready for a busy summer 2023 season.

The fairly recent addition of the airline’s first Embraer E195-E2 aircraft has also meant the airline has been able to elevate the customer experience for the summer too.

Alongside this, the significantly improved economics of the E2 benefit the airline too, in terms of fuel efficiency, noise reduction and an overall more modern airliner compared to their older Dash 8 aircraft.

Lastly with the Porter’s CCO hinting at new routes in the pipeline, the airline is looking forward to further growth in the near future.
