The Port of Seattle has this week announced that Philippine Airlines will be offering flights at Sea-Tac from Manila this October.

Such a route is yet another big deal off the back of the Port announcing Beijing flights with Hainan Airlines.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

The new flights between Manila and Seattle with Philippine Airlines will operate on a thrice-weekly basis.

Such scheduling for the flights is below:

  • PR124 DEP MNL 2240 ARR SEA 1915
  • PR125 DEP SEA 2340 ARR SEA 0445+2

The new flights between Manila and Seattle will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Commenting on the new flights was Lance Lyttle, Managing Director of the Port’s Aviation Division:

“We’ve been looking forward to this announcement for some time and are excited to welcome Philippine Airlines to our region”.

“This new direct route will offer valuable economic impact to our region and open up opportunities for outbound travelers visiting the Philippines and beyond, including Seattle’s Sister City, Cebu, Philippines.”

“It will also serve as an important connector between our two communities for business and leisure travel.”

Adding to this was PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Captain Stanley K. Ng:

“Philippine Airlines is happy to say, ‘Mabuhay, Seattle!’ We are proud to welcome Seattle to our growing U.S. route network”.

“Our Manila – Seattle – Manila flights give us a valuable opportunity to promote our beautiful island country as a flourishing tourist and business destination for American travelers.”

“We also look forward to serving Filipinos who hope to reunite with family members or experience new travel adventures in the vibrant U.S. Pacific Northwest.”

Manila with Philippine Airlines joins Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s wide range of international destinations.

The airport currently offers 47 services to 31 international destinations across 25 airlines.

Within 2024, this is route announcement number six for the airport, with the others being:

  • Alaska Airlines flights to Toronto – Starts in May.
  • Lufthansa flights to Munich – Starts in May.
  • Delta Air Lines flights to Taipei – Starts in June.
  • China Airlines flights to Taipei – Starts in July.
  • STARLUX flights to Taipei – Starts in August.

It remains clear that flights to Asia are beginning to thrive well from Seattle.

In conclusion, the addition of flights to Manila with Philippine Airlines is reflective of the successful year that Seattle is having.

All eyes will be on launch day in October to see how the new flights perform.

If they are successful, then there may be scope to expand the frequency from thrice-weekly to beyond.

But for now, let’s see how things go on launch day!
