Norwegian Handles 20 Million Passengers in 2023

This week saw Norwegian release it’s last traffic report of 2023, with the carrier handling a staggering 20 million passengers last year.

Such information came alongside the December 2023 figures, of which both numbers have seen strong growth results.

1.3m passengers were handled in December 2023 by Norwegian, which was close to the same number as the same period in 2022.

Load factor for that period was recorded at 83.6%, which was six percentage points higher than the same period the year before.

For 2023 as a whole, Norwegian handled 20.6m passengers, which is an increase of 16% compared to 2022, with load factors rising two percentage points to 84.7%.

Geir Karlsen, the CEO of the airline said the following on the numbers:

“With 1.3 million passengers in December, a total of more than 20 million passengers chose to travel with us in 2023.”

“Our load factor has increased significantly from December 2022, and I am happy to see these solid results.”

“It is also encouraging to see that the positive booking trend we saw through 2023 seems to continue into 2024.”

“Our customers are now planning and booking their next travel adventure with many taking advantage of our New Year’s sale that was launched recently,”

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how Norwegian will perform in 2024, as well as what such growth opportunities will enable them to do beyond that.
