Known for its livery painted on Atlas Air aircraft, MSC has gone one step further in the air freight business by acquiring a majority stake in AlisCargo Airlines.
AlisCargo Airlines is an Italian air freight carrier based in Milan, which should help MSC gain an additional presence within Italy.
As per data from Planespotters.net, however, the airline doesn’t seem to have any aircraft, following four Boeing 777-200 Freighters exiting the fleet between June and October last year.
With that in mind, MSC has said that AlisCargo Airlines will restart operations with one Boeing 777 Freighter, which does answer that criticism.

Commenting on the acquisition was MSC’s Air Cargo Senior VP, Jannie Davelstated:
“The acquisition of a majority share in AlisCargo Airlines is a step towards expanding MSC’s Air Cargo solution capabilities and ultimately providing our customers with a quality and consistent offering.”

Also adding to this was Giacomo Manzon, the General Manager of AlisCargo Airlines:
“I am proud to see a group like MSC entering as a major shareholder of AlisCargo Airlines and developing further the project that Leali Group has initiated.”

Overall, this is set to further cement MSC’s presence in the market, and will also help the restart of the carrier’s operation with a new aircraft.
