Lufthansa Technik and Emirates have solidified their collaboration through a Base Maintenance Services (BMS) contract for Airbus A380s during the Dubai Airshow.
By October 2026, another 23 of the world’s largest passenger aircraft will undergo C-checks performed by Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in Manila.
This partnership underscores Emirates’ trust in Lufthansa Technik’s expertise as a leading global Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) provider.
The Dubai Airshow Deal
Emirates, renowned as the largest Airbus A380 operator globally, has committed to subjecting 23 of its colossal A380 fleet to C-checks conducted by Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in Manila by October 2026.
This move signifies a shift from in-house MRO capacities to leveraging the expertise of Lufthansa Technik, positioning them as the go-to partner for intricate maintenance services.

Lufthansa Technik’s Competence Center
Lufthansa Technik’s competence center for Base Maintenance Services in Manila has been a hive of activity, conducting heavy checks on Emirates’ A380s since January.
The initial agreement covered ten A380s, and with their successful completion, an additional 23 aircraft are set to undergo meticulous checks.
By the deadline in October 2026, LTP will have conducted base maintenance checks for a staggering 33 Emirates’ Airbus A380s, equating to over a quarter of the world’s largest A380 fleet.
Meeting Soaring Demands: LTP’s Strategic Investment
Anticipating the surge in demand for MRO services on the Airbus A380, LTP has made strategic investments, particularly in additional A380 overhaul capacities.
Notably, the construction of a new 9,000 square meter hangar in Manila is a testament to their commitment.
This expansion enables LTP to concurrently overhaul three of these superjumbos, ensuring efficiency and timely delivery of services.
Lufthansa Technik’s Milestone in the UK
While the Dubai Airshow marked the signing of the Base Maintenance Services contract, Lufthansa Technik achieved a significant milestone in the United Kingdom.
The specialized workshop of Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services (LTLGS) in London completed the first overhaul of Emirates A380 landing gear.
Since August, LTLGS has been diligently providing overhaul services for the Emirates A380’s body and wing landing gear, showcasing their global capabilities.
