On April 27, the German flag carrier, Lufthansa, announced that it will be serving new winter long-haul destinations.

This article will cover the details surrounding Lufthansa’s latest announcement of adding some new winter long-haul destinations using both their Airbus A380s and A350s.

Starting from October 5, 2023, Lufthansa will be once again operating its Airbus A380s on its Munich to Los Angeles service as part of a large capacity increase for its Munich winter schedule offering.

The flight to Los Angeles with the A380 will be operated on a daily basis.

Not only this but just as the winter season is about to begin, Lufthansa will also be commencing A380 operations from Munich to Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok. This will start from October 28.

On the Thailand route alone, the A380 operations represent a 75% increase in capacity per flight compared to the carrier usually operating its Airbus A350s on this busy service.

On top of the new Airbus A380 services from Munich, Lufthansa will also be increasing its Indian offering from both Munich and Frankfurt.

Firstly, the German carrier will be operating a new service between Munich and Bangalore, on top of its existing services from Munich to Delhi and Mumbai.

The Bangalore service will be operated by their Airbus A350s on a three-weekly basis as flight LH764 departs at 12:10 p.m. local time on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

As part of this latest announcement, Lufthansa will also be restarting its Frankfurt to Hyderabad service, operated also by its Airbus A350s.

Overall

It is great to see Lufthansa quite significantly expanding its Munich winter offering with the introduction of its Airbus A380s to ramp up capacity on those dense routes.

Maybe Lufthansa may also announce even more Airbus A380 expansions as we head closer to the Winter 2023 season, not just from Munich but from Frankfurt too.
