Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, has marked off a milestone at Edinburgh Airport. This week the airline celebrated the one-millionth passenger to travel with them through the hub.

To mark the occasion, they surprised a loyal customer, Gemma Smith, with a gift of free flights.

Gemma works as a nurse in the offshore oil and gas industry. She was traveling from Orkney to Edinburgh when she received the unexpected surprise.

One Million: Loganair in Edinburgh

Gemma is a regular Loganair flyer for work trips. She had used Clan Loganair points, the airline’s frequent flyer program, to book this particular journey.

This trip held special significance as it allowed her to reunite with friends she hadn’t seen since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I fly with Loganair often for work purposes,” Gemma shared. “So it’s a real treat to be traveling for leisure this time.”

“To top it all off, I’m incredibly fortunate to have been gifted some free flights! I can’t wait to use them for a trip with my partner. Hopefully to London for a weekend visit to Harry Potter World.”

Record Summer Ahead

Building on this one-million passenger milestone, Loganair is gearing up for a record-breaking summer at Edinburgh Airport. They plan to increase seat capacity on several routes by up to 35%. This allows them to transport the highest number of passengers ever through the airport.

The airline will be adding two new ATR72-600 Next Generation turboprops to their Edinburgh base, along with creating eight new cabin crew positions to operate these larger aircraft.

Loganair’s network from Edinburgh Airport (EDI) provides vital connections across the UK and Europe, including a route to Bergen, Norway.

They offer daily flights from Scotland’s capital to various communities across the country, from the far north (Sumburgh) to the south (Cardiff, Exeter, Newquay).

Loganair CCO Comments

Luke Lovegrove, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, expressed his delight: “Edinburgh is a crucial hub for our operations, and we’re thrilled to celebrate surpassing the one-million passenger mark as we continue to expand our presence at the airport.”

“Connectivity is at the heart of what we do, and celebrating with a Clan Loganair member like Gemma perfectly exemplifies how our network keeps people connected for both business and personal reasons.”

“We look forward to another productive year at Edinburgh Airport, increasing capacity to connect even more passengers in the coming months.”

Edinburgh Airport Applauds Loganair’s Success

Kate Sherry, Chief Commercial Officer (Aero) at Edinburgh Airport, congratulated Loganair and their Edinburgh team on achieving this milestone.

“This is a testament to the fantastic service they’ve provided passengers over the years,” she remarked. “Reaching the one-million passenger mark is a significant accomplishment.”

“Loganair continues to offer vital connections across the UK and beyond, facilitating travel for holidays, business trips, educational opportunities, and family reunions.”

“We look forward to collaborating with Loganair on the continued success of their operations at Edinburgh Airport and building upon what has already been achieved. Here’s to the next million passengers!”
