Swiss carrier Edelweiss announced that Las Vegas & Vancouver will be the first two destinations for new Airbus A350 flights from Zurich.

Within this announcement, the airline has laid out it’s initial plans for usage of the aircraft type when deliveries begin.

Zurich to Las Vegas & Vancouver…

Las Vegas will be the first flights that launch from Zurich with Edelweiss and the Airbus A350.

It is understood that this service will begin in May 2025 on a three times per week basis.

By July 2025, the flights to Vancouver will also be launched, where it will serve on a daily basis.

Commenting on the new aircraft type, Edelweiss said the following on this:

“The design of the Airbus A350 sets new standards in efficiency with state-of-the-art technologies and outstanding aerodynamics.”

“It is one of the most environmentally friendly long-haul aircraft in the world. The latest generation of engines and the use of lightweight materials make the twin-engine Airbus A350-900 one of the most fuel-efficient wide-body aircraft.”

“It consumes 25 per cent less fuel and therefore produces 25 per cent less CO2 than the four-engine Airbus A340-300, which it replaces. Noise emissions are also up to 50 per cent lower.”

The timetable for entry into commercial service (EIS) on the Edelweiss Airbus A350 aircraft looks to be the following on this:

  • Aircraft EIS #1 = April 2025
  • EIS #2 = July 2025
  • EIS #3 = October 2025.
  • EIS #4 = Winter 2025.
  • EIS #5 = 2H26.
  • EIS #6 = 2H26.

Six Airbus A350 aircraft will be acquired by Edelweiss to replace their older Airbus A340-300 aircraft.

Before flights to Las Vegas & Vancouver begins, the aircraft will be placed on short & medium-haul operations.

This is to ensure crew competency and training on what will be a new aircraft type for their pilots.

In conclusion, this is an exciting time for Edelweiss, as the preparations to receive new aircraft continue.

All eyes will be set on 2025, when the long-haul flights to Las Vegas & Vancouver will begin.

For enthusiasts alike, there will be excitement of the aircraft operating short and medium-haul flights to begin with.

But for now, all eyes will be on delivery day for this new customer of the Airbus A350.
