German Airways and KLM Cityhopper have announced that they will continue their wet lease partnership for the upcoming winter flight schedule.

The partnership, which began in February 2023, includes the wet lease of five aircraft from German Airways to KLM Cityhopper.

Under the terms of the agreement, German Airways will provide KLM Cityhopper with aircraft, crews, maintenance, and insurance. KLM Cityhopper will then be responsible for marketing and selling the seats on their flights with these aircraft.

The partnership has been a success so far, with both airlines reporting high levels of satisfaction. Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways, said: “The past months have shown that both companies are satisfied with the cooperation.”

“We bring a very reliable service and a highly motivated team. And we are very pleased to be able to support KLM Cityhopper as an integral part of the flight operations there. We both agree to continue the cooperation beyond the current contract.”

The wet-lease partnership will continue until the winter flight schedule of 2023/2024. Both airlines have expressed their intention to continue the partnership beyond that date.

The partnership is a positive development for both airlines as it allows KLM Cityhopper to expand its fleet and network whilst the carrier awaits the arrival of its backorder for more Embraer E195-E2s. It also allows German Airways to generate additional revenue.

KLM Cityhopper currently operates 15 Embraer E195-E2s with a further 10 on backorder.

The partnership is also good for passengers. It gives them more choices of flights and routes. It also means that they can benefit from German Airways’ reliable service and highly motivated team.
