Jetstar has announced a boost to Western Australian services, with the first ever direct service connecting Sydney to one of the west’s top tourist regions – Busselton Margaret River.

The new route service is set to become operational prior to next Easter.

Gateway to the WA South-West

In the latest move, Jetstar will operate a three-per-week service, facilitating smooth travel for more than 50,000 customers annually between Sydney and the renowned wine and surf haven of Busselton Margaret River.

This move comes ahead of the upcoming Easter holidays, making it an opportune time for travelers to plan their West Coast escapades.

Inaugural Flight Details

Operated by the reliable Airbus A320 aircraft, the inaugural flight is scheduled for the 26th of March 2024.

This makes it just in time for the Easter festivities, and coincidentally it marks the second anniversary of Jetstar’s inaugural flight from Melbourne to Busselton Margaret River in April 2022.

Jetstar’s Market Position

Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully, proudly asserts that Jetstar will be the sole commercial airline providing direct flights between the east coast and Busselton Margaret River region.

This move ensures that holidaymakers from Sydney can reach Margaret River in a mere five hours, emphasizing affordability with one-way fares as low as $109.

Expressing gratitude, Tully acknowledges the support of the Western Australian Government, the South West Development Commission, Western Australia Tourism, and the City of Busselton.

This collaborative effort aims to boost travel demand to the region, reflecting positively on the local economy and job market.

State Endorsement

WA Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism, Rita Saffioti, express excitement about the new direct link, emphasizing the importance of direct flights in the state’s tourism strategy.

The government sees this as an opportunity to attract more visitors, inject tourism dollars into the local economy, and support job creation.

Regional Tourism and Business Opportunities

Minister for Regional Development, Don Punch, welcomes the introduction of flights from Sydney, noting the positive impact on tourism operators and small businesses in the spectacular South-West region.

This move follows the state government’s support for direct flights between Busselton and Melbourne, unlocking new avenues for investment and job creation.

Phill Cronin, the Mayor of the City of Busselton, expresses elation at the timing of the announcement. He sees the direct flights from Sydney as a convenient and efficient way for visitors to explore the region’s wineries, beaches, and scenic landscapes.

The mayor extends gratitude to Jetstar and Tourism Western Australia for their commitment to the region.
