LONDON – Jet2 has announced a fresh pair of routes from Belfast International Airport in Northern Ireland for Summer 2024.

The two new routes in question are Malta in the Mediterranean and Bodrum in South West Turkey and join the the package holiday airline’s current 19 strong route offering for Summer 2024.

As part of the route expansion, Jet2 will look to base another aircraft at Belfast to help support the increase in flights.

As for the schedule, both routes will only run once per week with flights to Bodrum flying on Mondays only, beginning on the 6th May.

In the case of Malta, flights will operate on Thursdays only, beginning on the 28th March. Flights will then continue through till the end of the summer season for the year, ending on the 28th and 31st October respectively.

With the addition of these two new routes from BFS, this will increase the amount of seats offered by the airline to 580,000 for the Summer 24 season, which represents a 30% increase compared to Summer 23.

Following on from the launch of the two routes, Jet2 also made the announcement they are now the largest UK tour operator.

“Following the magnificent response from customers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to our Summer 24 Sun programme going on sale, we are very pleased to be adding even more sunshine thanks to the launch of brand-new Bodrum and Malta.”

“We know these are destinations that our customers will love, and it adds even more choice from Belfast International with our award winning business”.

“We have always said how committed we are to Belfast International Airport, and investing in an additional aircraft demonstrates just how committed we are.”

“As well as being able to book early, we know customers will be thrilled at the huge choice we are offering when it comes to securing some Summer 24 sunshine, knowing that their price is locked in,” said Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.

“This is excellent news once again for Northern Ireland travellers with the expansion of Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays’ award winning holiday and flight products from Belfast International Airport”.

“The addition of two excellent additional routes to Bodrum on Turkey’s Aegean coast and direct flights to the delights of the Maltese archipelago further enhance the appeal of Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays’ overall programme,” said Uel Hoey, Director of Business Development at Belfast International Airport.

Jet2’s history in Belfast

Jet2 first began operations at Belfast International in 2004 with just one aircraft flying to 2 destinations including Prague.

Since then, the airline has expanded rapidly at the airport in the last 19 years becoming one of the more prominent carriers at serving the airport behind easyJet.

Summer 2024 will mark 20 years of operations at BFS for Jet2, so it is likely we will see some mini celebrations to mark the occasion, similar to when they celebrated 15 years of flights in 2019.
