ITA Airways lays out its winter scheduling

The 2023-2024 winter season brings a slew of new updates and additions to ITA Airways’ flight operations.

Presented at the TTG Travel Experience International Tourism Fair in Rimini, the announcement was met with enthusiasm from industry insiders and travelers alike.

ITA Airways Vision


At the heart of ITA Airways’ mission is the ambition to become Italy’s premier national carrier, connecting Italians to the world and providing top-notch service both domestically and internationally.

As Andrea Benassi, General Manager of ITA Airways, expressed, “Our goal is to be an efficient, innovative carrier, representing Italy worldwide. Our passengers should immediately feel at home and experience Italy even before landing.”

Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of Volare, then unveiled an exciting array of destinations for the 2023-2024 winter season. A total of 52 destinations are on offer, including 17 domestic, 23 international, and 12 intercontinental options.

Notably, two new intercontinental routes to Rio de Janeiro and the Maldives will be introduced alongside established destinations like New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, and New Delhi.

Record-Breaking Success


Emiliana Limosani proudly announced that ITA Airways had surpassed expectations with their commercial results. In the period from January 2023 to date, they had transported 11 million passengers, a remarkable 55 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.

Their average load factor also soared to 80 percent, marking a 7.5 percent increase over the previous year.

Moreover, passenger revenue experienced an impressive 83 percent growth compared to the first nine months of the previous year.

Future Expansion


Looking ahead, ITA Airways sights are firmly set on intercontinental development. One of the exciting milestones is the launch of a new Rome Fiumicino – Rio de Janeiro nonstop flight, opening up South America for travelers.

 Furthermore, plans are in motion to expand their intercontinental network, with a focus on North America. In April, they will introduce a nonstop flight to Chicago, followed by a new direct route to Toronto in May.

These routes, operated from Rome Fiumicino, demonstrate ITA Airways’ dedication to facilitating global travel.

Detailed Flight Schedule


Let’s break down the key flight operations for the upcoming seasons:

  • Starting from October 29, 2023, a new flight from Rome Fiumicino to Rio de Janeiro will commence, with daily departures and arrivals.
  • From December 16, 2023, a direct flight from Rome Fiumicino to the Maldives will be available, with several weekly frequencies.
  • Come April 7, 2024, travelers can enjoy a nonstop flight from Rome Fiumicino to Chicago, with increasing weekly frequencies.
  • On May 1, 2024, a new nonstop flight to Toronto will be launched, with expanding weekly frequencies in June.

Summer Expansion

The excitement then continues into the summer of 2024, with new direct flights from Rome Fiumicino to various destinations, including Riyadh, Accra, Kuwait, Dakar, and Jeddah.

This expansion reflects ITA Airways’ commitment to providing travelers with an extensive network of choices.

Fleet Advancements


ITA Airways has bolstered its fleet, which now boasts 79 Airbus aircraft. Among them, 29 are of the latest generation, including 11 A320neo, 7 A220-300, 5 A330-900, and 6 A350-900.

Notably, the first Airbus A321neo, featuring a three-class configuration, is set to join the fleet, offering a premium travel experience.

Additionally, the arrival of the Airbus A220-100 will enhance regional operations, providing efficiency and comfort for short-haul flights.
