Hawaiian Airlines now operate flights to Salt Lake City, Utah (SLC) from Honolulu (HNL) on a daily basis.

HA84 departs HNL at 1850 local time and arrives into SLC at 0515 the next day.

The return, HA83, then departs at 0700 local time, arriving back into HNL at 0955 local time.

The airline uses their 189-seater Airbus A321neo for this flight, offering over 19,000 seats per year to be purchased.

Brent Overbeek, executive vice president and chief revenue officer at Hawaiian Airlines commented on the milestone saying:

“We know the Hawaiian Islands have a special place in the heart of Utahns and for some, a Hawaiʻi vacation also means reuniting with friends and family“.

“Our new Salt Lake City service comes at the perfect time for travelers planning their summer vacations and we look forward to welcoming them with our award-winning Hawaiian hospitality.”

Adding to this was Bill Wyatt, executive director, Salt Lake City International Airport:

“We extend a warm welcome to Hawaiian Airlines as they join the SLC International Airport family”.

“Hawaiian Airlines has a reputation for excellence in hospitality and we look forward to many years of prosperity.”

Whilst Hawaiian Airlines posted a Q1 loss of $137.6m, all isn’t as bad as expected.

This loss was narrower than predicted by market analysts, and the launch of Salt Lake City, Utah will definitely help.

SLC will also join the likes of Sacramento and Lihue from the island of Kona, with a fourth daily Los Angeles-HNL flight also being added.

The expectation will be that the losses will reduce further throughout the year, providing everything is operationally sound.

Overall…

In conclusion, the launch of Salt Lake City, Utah flights by Hawaiian Airlines shows a step in the right direction.

Adding more flights will increase revenues, and hopefully for them profitability, providing the rest of the year performs well.

All eyes will be on what the rest of the Summer 2024 season will look like for the airline.

With eyes on the airline regarding the merger with Alaska Airlines, 2024 will no doubt be a turning point for the carrier.
