Saudi Arabia’s leading low-cost carrier, flynas, took flight in the first quarter of 2024, exceeding expectations with impressive operational results.

This strong performance shows that the airline’s ambitious growth strategy is reaping results. The carrier has continued a proactive expansion of its fleet to meet surging passenger demand.

Passenger numbers soared by a very respectable 51% year-over-year (YoY) compared to Q1 2023. A total of 3.7 million passengers flew with flynas during this period, a testament to the airline’s growing popularity.

Record Capacity Increase Fuels Expansion

flynas achieved a record-breaking 43% YoY increase in overall seat capacity for Q1 2024. This growth was driven by the expansion of both domestic and international routes, with domestic offerings increasing by 45% and international routes by 40%.

Bander Almohanna, flynas’ Managing Director and CEO, commented on the airline’s success: “Our exceptional start to 2024 validates the effectiveness of our ambitious growth strategy.”

“We’ve capitalized on Saudi Arabia’s economic momentum and responded to rising passenger demand, successfully broadening our customer base.”

Almohanna attributes flynas’ progress to a multifaceted approach. This includes leveraging a talented workforce, expanding the fleet, introducing new destinations and products, and enhancing its loyalty program.

Looking ahead, flynas clearly remains committed to its growth trajectory. The airline aims to further connect the world with Saudi Arabia, playing a pivotal role in the development of the Kingdom’s tourism and aviation sectors.

This alignment with the National Civil Aviation Strategy and the Pilgrims Experience Program positions flynas to capitalize on the industry’s immense growth potential.

Award-Winning Excellence

flynas’ commitment to excellence is recognized internationally. The airline now boasts a series of prestigious accolades. These include the coveted Skytrax International Award for the 4th “Best LCC worldwide” and the “Best Low-cost Airline in the Middle East” for the sixth consecutive year in 2023.

Additionally, flynas secured the “Best Low-cost Airline Award” in the Middle East from the World Travel Awards in 2024, marking a remarkable ten-year winning streak.

UAE Expansion Takes Off

Further solidifying its commitment to growth, flynas recently announced a major expansion plan for the UAE market.

This ambitious move will solidify flynas’ position as the sole Saudi carrier serving all four major airports in the UAE: Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai International Airport (DXB), and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

This expansion will significantly increase routes between the two countries, jumping from the current four to nine, offering passengers over 20 daily flights starting September 2024.

By focusing on strategic expansion, exceptional service, and a commitment to innovation, flynas continues to soar as a leading low-cost carrier in the region.

flynas currently serves more than 70 domestic and international destinations, operating over 1500 weekly flights.

Since its launch in 2007, the airline has flown over 78 million passengers. The expansion plan aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to reach 165 domestic and international destinations.
