flydubai launches daily service to Cairo

On October 28, 2023, Dubai-based carrier flydubai will commence daily flights to Cairo Sphinx International Airport (SPX), strengthening the bridge between these two vibrant cities.

With the launch of daily flights to Cairo, flydubai will be serving the Egyptian market with a total of 17 weekly flights.

This includes their daily operations to Alexandria Borg El Arab International Airport (HBE). This expansion signifies flydubai’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in the region and responding to the growing demand for travel between Cairo and Dubai.

Cairo Flight Details


Starting from October 28, 2023, these daily flights will operate from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB) to Sphinx International Airport (SPX).

Trade and tourism growth


flydubai’s network in Africa is continuously growing, with the recent addition of Cairo. This expansion aligns with the airline’s mission to create free flows of trade and tourism between countries, making travel more convenient and accessible to a broader audience.

Gateway to History and Culture


Sphinx International Airport is strategically located on the road between Cairo and Alexandria, just forty-five kilometers from the iconic pyramids of Giza. This new airport serves not only the residents of Greater Cairo but also the governorates of Fayoum and Beni Suif.

What’s more, Sphinx International Airport is a short drive from Egypt’s main historical and archaeological sites, facilitating seamless connections with the Red Sea resorts, including Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.

A Perspective from Senior Vice President


Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent) at flydubai, emphasized the significance of the Egyptian market, saying, “Egypt is a very important market for flydubai.”

“The new daily service will provide our passengers from the UAE, GCC, and CIS regions with more options for travel to Cairo through Dubai’s aviation hub.”
