Dubai-based carrier flydubai has this week launched flights to Cairo and Poznan, as network growth continues.
flydubai will now fly to Cairo’s secondary airport, Sphinx International Airport (SPX).
Here, airport officials welcomed the flight with a warm traditional water cannon salute. The same goes for Poznan Airport, where flydubai also had a warm reception.
Flights to Cairo’s Sphinx International Airport expand flydubai Egypt’s portfolio which includes Alexandria and now Cairo.
The airline’s Polish destination now flies to Krakow, Poznan, and Warsaw.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said:

flydubai’s expansion in such cities signifies the airline’s strategy in becoming the feeder carrier for Emirates Airlines.
This will certainly assert Dubai as one of the most comprehensive mega hubs.
Cairo is served by Emirates Airlines as well, but to the main airport CAI (Cairo International Airport).
The strategy adopted by flydubai allows traffic of both Emirates and the subsidiary to complement one another not competing against each other.
