Emirati carrier flydubai inaugurated services to Milan Bergamo Airport this week as the carrier’s European expansion continues.

Services commenced on March 10, with this currently operating on a five times per-week basis.

From April 18, this service will upgrade to daily, with there being an Emirates codeshare on this service to Milan’s airport.

Commenting on this route launch to Milan was Ghaith Al Ghaith, the CEO of flydubai:

“We are pleased to see our network in Italy grow to four points since our first entry to the market in 2018 with the start of flights to Catania.”

“There is a large demand for travel from Dubai and the region, and our flights to Milan-Bergamo, as well as the other points in Italy, will give passengers the opportunity to enjoy convenient direct operations to some of Italy’s most attractive regions.”

“Passengers can enjoy the convenience of traveling to Dubai as well as explore popular holiday destinations, including the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.”

“Our flights will be operated by our fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which feature a lie-flat seat in Business Class and additional comfort in Economy Class.”

This new route to Milan Bergamo is an example of flydubai’s successes, especially as the carrier comes out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on data from RadarBox.com, the carrier achieved 287 movements on March 12-19 based on a seven-day rolling average provided by the flight tracking company.

This represents an increase of 18.11% compared to the same period last year and is 79 movements higher than the same point in 2019 (Pre-COVID levels).

It remains clear that flydubai is in a very strong position at present, with the Milan Bergamo route expanding on that success.

Looking ahead, the numbers will no doubt continue to rise, especially as we approach the busy Summer 2023 period.

But for now, all eyes are on the carrier to see where is next away from Milan.
