Firefly, the subsidiary belonging to Malaysia Airlines, has this month inaugurated services between Penang and Bangkok.

The first flight took place on November 3 departing at 1619 local time from Penang and landed into Bangkok at 1643 local time.

The scheduling for the new services from the Malaysia Airlines subsidiary is as follows:

Commenting on the launch of this new route from Firefly between Penang and Bangkok was Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, the CEO of the Malaysia Airlines Group:

Adding to this was YB Wong Hon Wai, the Penang State EXCO for Tourism & Creative Economy:

“Welcome to Penang! I’m thrilled to announce the new Firefly Airlines’ direct flight from Bangkok to our beautiful island.”

“As the EXCO for Tourism and creative economy in Penang, I’m excited to share the rich culture, heritage, and natural beauty that Penang has to offer. 

“With this new route, we’re making it easier than ever for everyone to travel to Bangkok and, at the same time, boost our local tourism industry.”

“Join us on this journey, and let Penang leave a lasting impression on you while fostering economic growth in our region.” 

All eyes will be on the carrier to see how this new route performs, and whether there is scope to expand this further going into the future.
