In a bold start to the new year, Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has unveiled two new India route additions additions to its ever-growing list of services.

Commencing on New Year’s Day, daily non-stop flights from Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode (CCJ) and Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) in the beautiful Kerala region of India have taken off.

Etihad’s Indian Gateways

With the introduction of non-stop services to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, Etihad now serves a total of 10 Indian gateways, emphasizing its dedication to facilitating seamless travel to and from the Subcontinent.

The introduction of these new services not only strengthens the airline’s network but also enhances accessibility to the breathtaking landscapes and sandy beaches that Kerala is renowned for.

This move is poised to boost inbound tourism to the region, inviting travelers to explore the cultural richness and natural beauty of God’s Own Country.

Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad, highlights the significance of these routes, stating, “We have established a fantastic group of non-stop routes between India and Abu Dhabi.”

“These provide customers with easier access to our growing network without transiting through one of the main Indian hub airports.”

Abu Dhabi’s Strategic Hub

Etihad’s strategic hub in Abu Dhabi plays a pivotal role in ensuring passengers enjoy seamless and practical connections, opening doors to destinations across the GCC, Europe, including the airline’s four daily services to London, and North America.

Neves adds, “Moreover, they have the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic stopover in Abu Dhabi as an integral part of their journey.”

The extended services also streamline travel for professionals visiting the burgeoning business hubs in Kerala.

With increased connectivity, Etihad ensures that both business and leisure travelers can navigate the skies with ease, making their journey as seamless as possible.

Etihad’s Ongoing Expansion

Looking back at 2023, Etihad successfully reintroduced services to Kolkata, a vital gateway connecting Eastern India to global destinations.

Additionally, the airline ramped up frequencies for flights to Mumbai and Delhi, elevating two of its most popular routes to an impressive four flights per day.

As we step into 2024, Etihad’s expansion plans continue to soar. The airline has already announced new flights to Boston, USA, commencing on March 31, and to Nairobi, Kenya, starting on May 1. The carrier plans to service Bali, Indonesia for the first time commencing April 24.

The summer schedule promises excitement with an inaugural non-stop service to Nice, France, and direct flights to the enchanting Greek isles of Mykonos and Santorini.
