Etihad Airways & China Southern Airlines are to cooperate further via a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this week.

It is understood that the MoU will explore deeper and broader cooperation opportunities following Etihad’s move to Beijing Daxing International Airport, which is China Southern’s hub.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

The Agreement…

Etihad’s move to Beijing Daxing International Airport will entail further connectivity between the two sides on a global scale.

China Southern will benefit from Etihad’s connectivity and vice versa.

The MoU also contains plans for mutual procurement opportunities across ground handling, cargo handling, bonded warehousing, catering, maintenance, repair, and overhaul in either Guangzhou, Beijing, or Abu Dhabi, broadening cooperation opportunities in the airline supply chain.

In Guangzhou as well, there will be the same level of route connectivity following Etihad’s enhancement of services into that airport back in October 2022.

Etihad, China Southern & The Future…

This Memorandum of Understanding signed by Etihad Airways and China Southern Airlines reflects a partnership where both carriers are on the same page.

China Southern Airlines is aiming to get back into the global travel network following the closure of China during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for Etihad Airways, they are looking to grow once again following years of financial pain, which was exacerbated by the pandemic as well.

Going into the future, both sides will feed off each other to get back to their pre-pandemic levels of growth and then use that to grow further going into the future.

All eyes are on both carriers to see how prosperous this relationship will be moving forward.
