Etihad Cargo Launches New Madrid Freighter Service

Etihad Cargo recently announced the launch of a new freighter service to Madrid, Spain. This route addition bolsters the carrier’s European network and is set to commence on 15 July 2024.

It will see two Boeing 777 freighter flights operate weekly between Abu Dhabi, Etihad’s hub, and the vibrant Spanish capital.

The addition of this vital route translates to a significant boost in cargo capacity for Europe, exceeding 200 tonnes per flight.

This expansion complements Etihad Cargo’s existing robust European freighter network, which already encompasses six weekly flights to Amsterdam and three to Frankfurt.

With Madrid joining the roster, the total number of Etihad Cargo’s freighter flights to Europe climbs to 11 per week. This surther solidifying its position as a key player in the European air cargo landscape.

Strategic Significance of Madrid

The selection of Madrid as Etihad Cargo’s latest European freighter destination is a strategic decision driven by several factors.

Strengthened Network and Increased Frequencies

The addition of the Madrid route is just one facet of Etihad Cargo’s broader European network expansion.

Customers can expect to benefit from a range of additional services implemented as part of the carrier’s summer schedule.

This includes the launch of new seasonal routes, such as twice-weekly flights to Nice, France.

Existing popular routes like Athens will see increased frequencies, reaching 14 flights per week. This will see connections to the idyllic Greek islands of Mykonos and Santorini.

Moreover, Etihad Cargo is introducing three weekly flights to the Turkish resort city of Antalya. It will boost frequencies to Istanbul, reaching 14 weekly flights from July 22nd, 2024.

Dublin will also witness a significant increase in service. The Irish capital will see an additional three flights, bringing the total to ten weekly flights starting July 23rd.
