It is understood that flights between Dubai and Phnom Penh, Cambodia via Singapore will commence on May 1.

These services will operate daily, with the scheduling as follows, using a Boeing 777-300ER:

  • EK348 DXB 0230 SIN 1405
  • EK348 SIN 1535 PNH 1635
  • EK349 PNH 2050 SIN 2350
  • EK349 SIN 0140 DXB 0455

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President, and Chief Commercial Officer had this to say:

“The resumption of our Phnom Penh services demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our Southeast Asian network, as we continue to create more opportunities for travellers to explore diverse and culturally rich destinations, and help businesses and exporters of all sizes establish stronger trade connections.”

“We thank the Cambodian and Singaporean authorities for their support in establishing this new route.”

“We look forward to re-introducing our customers to yet another vibrant destination on our network as they explore the world.”

Emirates also revealed that on the flights to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, there will be significant opportunity for cargo.

Under the SkyCargo branch, up to 300 tonnes per week will be on offer in the belly of the 777-300ER.

It is understood that the figure is for in and out of the Cambodia-based destination.

So, for both passenger and cargo operations, there are significant benefits to these new flights.

Use of Fifth Freedom…

The way these flights between Dubai-Singapore-Phnom Penh is through the use of fifth freedom.

Cambodia and Emirates will use this law to be able to operate such flights.

Fifth Freedom is where there is a right to fly between two foreign countries on a flight originating or ending in one own’s country.

The airline does have a series of fifth freedom flights that they operate already, with this new service joining the list.

As growth continues for Emirates in Asia, all eyes will be on what growth looks like for them in 2024.

New flights to the likes of Phnom Penh, Cambodia will no doubt join another series of routes ahead of the Summer.

But for now, the airline continues to start out operations strongly.
