Emirates launches Premium Economy offering in India

UAE national carrier Emirates is set to make an entrance into the Indian aviation market with its Premium Economy offering later this month. It will become the first Middle East carrier to offer Premium Economy on A380 flights to and from Mumbai.

Emirates is making history as the first Middle East carrier to introduce Premium Economy services in Mumbai, enhancing the travel options for passengers flying in and out of this bustling city.

EK506 Preview


The aircraft, operating as EK506, graced the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (MIAL) with its presence.

This special arrival provided an exclusive sneak peek for MIAL airport officials, VIPs, travel agents, key corporate customers, and media representatives.

The distinguished guests were treated to a guided tour of the Premium Economy cabins, which are poised to debut on Emirates’ A380 flights to Mumbai and Bangalore from 29 October, with outbound flights to Dubai commencing from 30 October.

The event took place in the presence of personalities from the aviation world. Prakash Tulsiani, the Chief Executive Officer of Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), and Ashwin Noronha, the Chief Operating Officer of MIAL, were among the dignitaries present.

Dinaz Madhukar, Chief Commercial Service Officer at Adani Airports, along with other local airport authorities, joined the celebration.

Notably, Mohammed Sarhan, Emirates’ Vice President for India and Nepal, graced the event with his presence.

Emirates executives who arrived in Mumbai onboard the A380 included Adnan Kazim, the Chief Commercial Officer, and Ahmed Khoory, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations – West Asia and Indian Ocean.

Expressing his thoughts on the highly-anticipated launch of Premium Economy in India, Mohammad Sarhan, Emirates’ Vice President for India and Nepal, shared,

“In line with the demand we have seen on the ten routes where the product is already available, we anticipate it will be highly popular in India as well.

“With the ongoing surge in travel across our network, Premium Economy allows passengers to savor the perfect blend of luxury and affordability. As we incorporate Premium Economy cabins across a growing number of aircraft, we hope to extend this option on more routes.”

The Premium Economy Experience


The Premium Economy cabins aboard the Emirates A380 are designed to pamper passengers. With 56 plush cream leather seats, positioned at the front of the main deck, passengers are in for a treat.

These seats are laid out in a 2-4-2 configuration, offering generous recline, ample legroom, and an elevated dining experience. Passengers can expect a host of luxurious touches to make their journey memorable.

For those with discerning palates, the premium dining experience on offer is nothing short of exquisite.

The menu includes a diverse selection of regional dishes, showcasing a wide array of local flavors. The extensive beverage selection ensures that every passenger can find their preferred libation.

In addition to the premium amenities, the in-flight entertainment system ‘ice’ has also received significant upgrades.

With over 6,500 channels, passengers will be spoiled for choice. The larger screens and an extensive collection of movies, TV shows, and albums in India’s regional languages, including Hindi, Marathi, and Kannada, ensure that passengers are entertained throughout their journey.

A Fleet-Wide Transformation


Emirates has undertaken an ambitious project, one of the largest-ever fleet retrofitting initiatives in aviation history.

The airline’s Engineering team is in the process of revamping 67 Airbus A380s and 53 Boeing 777 aircraft. This extensive project not only promises a refreshed look but also the installation of nearly 4,000 Premium Economy seats across 120 aircraft.
