It is understood the aircraft in question will be HB-JLP, which is currently with parent company SWISS at this present time.

The aircraft will be utilised for short and medium-haul flights from its base in Zurich to support the ever-increasing demand for summer travel.

As per data from Planespotters.net, HB-JLP is a 12.7 year old Airbus A320 that was delivered to SWISS back in March 2011.

In a statement, the carrier said the following:

“Edelweiss is expanding its fleet with another Airbus A320 aircraft.”

“The aircraft with the registration HB-JLP will be taken over by the sister company SWISS and used for short- and medium-haul flights from Zurich from summer 2024.”

“With the additional Airbus A320, Edelweiss will operate a fleet of 19 aircraft from Zurich next year (14 of the short-medium haul aircraft and 5 Airbus A340).”

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on the Swiss carrier to see how the Summer 2024 season will go for them. It’s clear that through needing an additional aircraft, that the demand is there to service such needs.

But for now, it will be interesting to see if they require anymore aircraft to cater to upcoming demand next Summer.
