Expanding its short-haul/medium-haul network, Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss has announced the addition of two new holiday destinations in Finland, commencing February 2024.

The towns of Ivalo and Kuusamo are set to be added, increasing the airline’s short-haul/medium-haul offerings to 39 in the winter timetable. This marks the first operation of Finland services for the Swiss carrier.

Ivalo: A Glimpse into Northern Lapland

Nestled in the heart of Northern Lapland, Ivalo emerges as a gem waiting to be discovered. Holding the prestigious position of the third most important tourist destination in Finland, after Kittilä and Rovaniemi, Ivalo boasts an irresistible appeal for winter enthusiasts.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the Saariselkä winter sports area, a paradise for cross-country skiers with an impressive 230 km of trails. But that’s not all – skiing and snowshoeing find their home here too, catering to a range of preferences.

One of Ivalo’s attractions is its toboggan run, captured by the Aurora lights.

Kuusamo: Snowiest Region in Finland

Kuusamo, aptly crowned the snowiest region in Finland, emerges as a winter wonderland that promises an abundance of snowy adventures.

Home to the renowned winter sports center of Ruka, this quaint municipality of 15,000 residents transforms into a bustling hub for tourists seeking the thrill of the cold season. Winter activities abound here, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

But Kuusamo isn’t just about outdoor escapades – it’s a haven for culture enthusiasts too. The town opens its arms to offer a variety of cultural attractions, from riveting theatre performances that bring stories to life, to art exhibitions that celebrate creativity in its many forms.

Gateway to Ivalo and Kuusamo

Starting from the 2nd of February and continuing until the 22nd of March in 2024, Edelweiss will serve these two enchanting destinations. Non-stop flights will departing from Zurich every Friday.

To add further to the travel experience, Edelweiss offers the first sports baggage in the Normal category for free, making passenger’s winter gear part of the adventure without any extra cost.
