Without further ado, let’s get into it…

The new base in Alicante, Spain from easyJet launched on March 31, with the first flight heading to Glasgow.

Three Airbus A320 Family aircraft are based at the Spanish airport for the Summer.

10 new connections were also unveiled, bringing the total count to 22 destinations.

It is understood the likes of Amsterdam, Geneva, Prague, Nantes and others were listed as part of this.

For the Summer 2024 season, easyJet is offering 1.5m seats in Alicante, which is a 10% increase.

Good News for the Area Seasonally…

Javier Gándara, easyJet’s country director for Southern Europe outlined the benefits:

“With more than 30 million passengers carried since 1999, Alicante was one of the most popular destinations in our network that did not yet have a base, until now.”

“Opening our fourth base in Spain in Alicante confirms our commitment to this region and is an opportunity to further expand and consolidate our operations in the country.”

“The seasonal base model allows us to perfectly adapt to the needs of the market, boosting existing flows and giving us the opportunity to explore underved markets in the future that would have previously been inaccessible.”

“Today we are particularly excited to be here in Alicante, to celebrate the beginning of our operations from the new base and to introduce easyJet, its business models and its values to the local community.”

Adding to this was Toni Pérez, president of the Costa Blanca Tourist Board:

“[Establishing a base at the airport] consolidates the Costa Blanca as a preferred destination, both in summer and the rest of the year.”

“easyJet has shown an absolute confidence and commitment to the province of Alicante, aware of the results that the Alicante terminal records year after year, with a record figure of more than 15 million passengers carried in 2023”.

In conclusion, this is yet another milestone in terms of growth for easyJet, as their presence in Spain grows.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how the base performs over the Summer 2024 period.

There is, of course, room to grow beyond the seasonal basis, especially if demand allows later down the line.

But for now, let’s see how the base performs over this busy period.
