CMA CGM AIR CARGO adds freighter services to Shanghai

LONDON – French full-freighter airline CMA CGM AIR CARGO is stepping up its Asian development with two scheduled services into Shanghai, China.

The air freight division of CMA CGM CARGO presently operates a freighter service into Hong Kong. The addition of Shanghai operations will allow CMA CGM AIR CARGO to continue its commercial development in the region.

As of February 17, the French carrier now serves Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

With Shanghai, the company is taking root in one of China’s most dynamic economic hub. CMA CGM AIR CARGO is now operating 4 flights a week to Shanghai with an Airbus A330-200F cargo freighter.

This is equivalent to 240 tons of capacity available per direction per week. Flights are departing from CDG on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

CMA CGM AIR CARGO has been serving Hong Kong International Airport since October 2022. Hong Kong is one of the main East Asian gateways thanks to its strategic location inside one of the most vibrant economic regions of the world.

The carrier operates 5 flights a week to Hong Kong with a Boeing 777F freighter. This is equivalent to 450 tons of capacity available per direction per week. Flights are departing from CDG on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Launched in March 2021, CMA CGM AIR CARGO acts as the cargo airline of the CMA CGM Group, and is France’s leading full-freighter airline.

With its fleet of 6 aircraft, the air cargo operator offers scheduled service to Asia (Hong Kong, Shanghai) and the United States (Chicago, Miami).

The carrier’s four Airbus A330-200F aircraft were initially operated by Air Belgium and based in Liège. The four freighters have progressively undergone a transition of re-registration in France. The aircraft were subsequently relocated to Charles-de-Gaulle airport in Paris, together with the two Boeing 777F freighters.

The company also has plans in hand for a major expansion which will see the effect of doubling of its fleet, both in terms of numbers and capacity.

In 2022, CMA CGM Air Cargo ordered four Airbus A350F and two additional Boeing 777F cargo freighters.
