China Eastern Airlines, one of the major airline companies in China, has recently announced an increase in its flights between Shanghai and Paris as well as Shanghai and Madrid. These expansions aim to meet the growing demand for travel between these popular destinations.

Flight schedule changes

Starting from June 11, China Eastern Airlines increased its flights between Shanghai and Paris from three to seven per week. This means that travelers can now enjoy daily flights between these two vibrant cities.

The Shanghai-Paris route is an integral part of China Eastern Airlines’ extensive flight network, particularly within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative, which emphasizes connectivity and cooperation between countries.

In addition to the increased flights to Paris, China Eastern Airlines will also enhance its services between Shanghai and Madrid. Beginning June 20, the airline will operate five flights per week on this route.

Silk Road in the air

The direct flight between Shanghai and Madrid was first introduced in 2016 and has since served as a crucial air link between Europe and China. Often referred to as a “Silk Road in the air,” this route facilitates trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two regions.

This year holds special significance for China-Spain relations as it marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The Shanghai-Madrid flight plays a vital role in fostering friendly exchanges between China and Spain. It is also expected to contribute significantly to the 2023 China-Spain Year of Culture and Tourism, further strengthening bilateral relations in politics, economy, trade, and culture.

Moreover, the availability of direct flights between these two prominent cities will offer passengers convenient, efficient, and high-quality travel experiences.

Aviation recovery

Amidst the ongoing recovery of the aviation industry, Willie Walsh, the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), recently shared positive insights at the 79th AGM and World Air Transport Summit.

He stated that the aviation industry has achieved approximately 90% recovery compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

With the market steadily rebounding, China Eastern Airlines aims to seize the opportunity by expanding its capacity on multiple international routes. These expansions will cater to the growing demand for travel to destinations such as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Oceania.

Summary

China Eastern Airlines has responded to the increasing demand for travel between Shanghai and Paris as well as Shanghai and Madrid by significantly increasing its flight frequencies.

These expansions not only strengthen connectivity between China and key European destinations but also contribute to cultural exchanges and bilateral relations between China, Spain, and other regions.

As the aviation industry continues to recover, China Eastern Airlines remains committed to providing exceptional travel experiences and expanding its services to meet the needs of passengers worldwide.
