Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ premier low-cost airline, has embarked on a significant partnership with United Filipino Global (UFG), a non-governmental organization dedicated to aiding Filipino migrant workers.

This new collaboration, formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), is set to make a positive impact on the lives of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families.

The move will see the addition of 700,000 more international seats added, comparative to last year. Beyond that, the partnership seeks to provide social and educational support for migrant workers.

Strengthening the Bonds of Family

At the core of this partnership is a commitment to reuniting OFWs with their families. CEB will be providing complimentary flights to select OFW beneficiaries, making it easier for them to return to the Philippines and embrace their loved ones.

This initiative is not just about travel; it’s about bringing joy and rekindling the bonds that distance often challenges.

A Brighter Future through Education

Education is a cornerstone of a brighter future, and Cebu Pacific and UFG understand this. The partnership aims to promote potential scholarship grants for the children of OFWs.

By ensuring access to quality education, this initiative paves the way for these young minds to reach their full potential, contributing to the betterment of the Philippines.

A Lifeline in Times of Need

In times of natural disasters, emergencies, and critical situations, CEB will be there to extend a helping hand. Special flights will be deployed to provide immediate humanitarian assistance and transportation for distressed OFWs.

This unwavering support ensures that no matter where they are, OFWs can count on their nation’s airline to bring them home in times of need.

Safe Air Travel

Cebu Pacific is not only committed to facilitating travel but also ensuring it’s safe, reliable, and affordable.

To that end, the airline will launch educational campaigns aimed at informing OFWs about safe and responsible air travel practices.

Prioritizing their well-being, these initiatives will empower OFWs to travel with confidence and peace of mind.

As part of this partnership, Cebu Pacific will actively support OFW families and their children in participating in internship programs designed for those aspiring to join the aviation industry as flight crew and attendants.

This is a remarkable opportunity for the next generation to reach for the skies, quite literally.

Stakeholder Comments

Candice Iyog, CEB’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing that Cebu Pacific is committed to assisting OFWs on their journey. Their commitment extends beyond flights; it’s about creating a meaningful experience for their kababayans.

UFG’s president, Gemma Sotto, echoed this optimism, expressing hope that their upcoming programs will be felt and embraced.

The vision is clear: to be an instrument for OFWs and their children, making a positive impact on their lives.

A History of Service

Over the years, CEB has undertaken numerous flights to repatriate distressed OFWs back to the Philippines.

Notably, in 2021, CEB repatriated over 11,000 Filipinos from Dubai and the Middle East who were affected by COVID-19 lockdowns through a series of Bayanihan flights.

This track record of service underscores their dedication to their fellow Filipinos.

Cebu Pacific is steadfastly expanding its global presence, with a 63% increase in international capacity compared to pre-pandemic levels.

By the end of 2023, they will have added over 700,000 additional international seats compared to the previous year.

This expansion enriches travel choices for the global Filipino community and welcomes travelers from diverse nationalities.

Currently, CEB operates flights to 35 domestic and 25 international destinations spanning Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

Their extensive network ensures that they can be a bridge connecting OFWs with their families and bringing the world closer together.
