Philippines carrier Cebu Pacific is strengthening maintenance coverage with Lufthansa Technik, with another Engine Maintenance Services (EMS) contract for a significant number of CFM56-5B engines powering its A320ceo fleet.

Background of the Cebu Pacific Deal…

Cebu Pacific and Lufthansa Technik have enjoyed a longstanding collaboration to date. Since 2011, Lufthansa Technik Philippines has been providing line maintenance services for Cebu Pacific’s narrow-body fleet.

Maintenance support for the carrier’s fleet has gradually expanding to encompass base maintenance services for both the Airbus A320 and widebody A330 fleets.

Shevantha Weerasekera, Vice President of Engineering & Fleet Management at Cebu Pacific, emphasizes Lufthansa Technik’s understanding of their unique demands.

He highlights the airline’s particular interest in Lufthansa Technik’s services as a comprehensive solution, including Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, logistics, and warranty claim services.

“We were primarily attracted by Lufthansa Technik’s one-stop solution, encompassing MES, logistics, and warranty claim services, and were pleasantly surprised by the company’s flexibility in customizing offers,” he said.

Scope of Services

The recently brokered maintenance agreement encompasses a wide range of services, typifying Lufthansa Technik’s expertise and versatility.

From line maintenance to base maintenance, and from engine wash to Aircraft Transition Services (ATS), Lufthansa Technik will provide a comprehensive suite of support services tailored to Cebu Pacific’s fleet requirements.

Expansion of Collaboration

In September 2023, CEB and Lufthansa Technik entered an agreement to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for three of Cebu Pacific’s CFM56-5B engines, along with Cyclean® engine wash and Aircraft Transition Services (ATS) for two A320ceo.

The partnership between Cebu Pacific and Lufthansa Technik continues to evolve, demonstrating a commitment to long-term collaboration and innovation.

The recent agreement to provide MRO services for the Philippines carrier’s CFM56-5B engines signifies a deepening of their relationship and mutual trust.

Regional Focus

As part of its regionalization strategy, Lufthansa Technik is continuing to strengthen its presence in the Asia Pacific region.

By decentralizing its sales team and focusing on Southeast Asia, Lufthansa Technik aims to enhance its accessibility and responsiveness to customers like Cebu Pacific.

The latest agreement between the airline and Lufthansa Technik holds significant implications for both parties.

It not only solidifies their existing partnership but also opens doors for future collaboration and innovation in the aviation industry.
