Canadian low-cost carrier Canada Jetlines has announced the signing of an LOI regarding one more Airbus A320 aircraft.

By signing this, delivery of the aircraft will occur by July of this year.

The aircraft will be provided by a global aviation lessor providing capital to the airlines of the world. However, which lessor will be delivering this aircraft remains undisclosed as of now.

The acquisition comes as a result of the great demand for the Summer 2023 season, which Canada Jetlines will reportedly meet by adding this aircraft to the fleet. The company has only operated a two-aircraft fleet since its launch in September 2022.

Canada Jetlines’ Third A320

2022 launched Canada Jetlines has recently announced the acquisition of a third Airbus A320 aircraft to their fleet. The company has flown with two Airbus A320 aircraft in its fleet since the operations commenced in September of last year, but now sees great demand for the summer season, leaving the company to search for an additional aircraft to accompany the fleet.

“I am pleased that we have identified our third aircraft,” said Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines.

The aircraft to be acquired by the company is a 2007 built Airbus A320ceo which started its life with Interjet the same year, until 2020. The aircraft has since been in the hands of the lessor which will now be delivering the aircraft to Jetlines by July 2023.

The aircraft will be powered by two CFM56-5B4/3 engines and will see a cabin configurated with the new Recaro 3530 series seats featuring in-seat USB power ports and a personal electronic device holder. The aircraft will also be fitted with the Flymingo Box system, which will enhance the passenger experience through wireless inflight entertainment.

On the coming acquisition, CEO Eddy Doyle also commented: “We are seeing significant demand for the summer season and the addition of this aircraft will help support our existing customers and continue the Company’s growth plans.”

The potential Qatar collaboration

Earlier this year in March, it was announced that Canada Jetlines is in discussions with Qatar Airways Group to explore a potential collaboration between the two airlines.

Subject to all regulatory approvals, the parties are discussing the possibility of including non-stop flights between Toronto-Pearson and Doha, the home of Qatar Airways.

This would offer Canadian travelers’ access to Qatar Airways’ unparalleled network via Doha to destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Indian Subcontinent, and across Asia.

“We are pleased to discuss potential opportunities with Qatar Airways, an international airline known for its world-class service and consistently recognised by the industry and consumers as the best airline in the world,” said Eddy Doyle, President & CEO of Canada Jetlines.

“Qatar is not only a growing and exciting destination, but it is also home to the world’s best airport, Hamad International Airport, which provides seamless connectivity to Qatar Airways’ superior global network.”

About Canada Jetlines

Canada Jetlines is a 2022 launched all-Canadian airline, with a high focus on carrying leisure individuals to sunny destinations in the United States, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

These destinations are particularly very popular for Canadians who want to escape the extreme Canadian cold. Popular destinations for Canadians include Florida, Cuba, the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, St. Maarten, and Bermuda.

In Mexico, places like Tijuana and Cancun are equally popular.

The establishment of this airline is to disrupt the status quo, which is generally dominated by Air Canada, WestJet, Transat, and Sunwing. Canada Jetline plans to operate the ultra-efficient Airbus A320 to fly on these lucrative routes.
