A British Airways flight operation from Aberdeen to London Heathrow has declared an emergency en route and appears to be currently diverting.
British Airways flight BA1307, an Airbus A320 operating from Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ) to London Heathrow (LHR) declared a general emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst in transit over Scottish airspace.

Having initiated a descent to 8,000 feet after declaring the emergency from the cruise, the flight now appears to be initiating a diversion to Edinburgh.

As at 11:25 UTC, flight BA1307 has now left 8,000 feet on descent into the diversion airport of Edinburgh.
The nature of the emergency prompting the precautionary diversion to EDI is not yet known.
Flight data shows the aircraft was on climb through FL260 (26,000 feet) before declaring the emergency with transponder code 7700 at 11:06 UTC and initiating an immediate descent to 8,000 feet.
The flight then maintained the reduced altitude before making the diversion to nearby Edinburgh Airport.

Flight BA1307 is currently holding in the Edinburgh control area at 4,000 feet. The aircraft conducting this morning’s London Heathrow service is an Airbus A320-232 registered G-EUYO; a 10-year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the British national carrier British Airways.
