Flights out of Fort Myers in Southwest Florida will be getting a boost thanks to Breeze Airways’ plans to open a new base there.
The carrier first started operating services from the airport in June 2022, and has seen strong success.

New Flights from Fort Myers Coming Up…
Breeze Airways will open up it’s base in Fort Myers on October 1, allowing more flights from the airport.
Furthermore, this will become the airline’s ninth base in the United States.
Since operating flights in June 2022, the airline has handled 160,000 passengers alone.
Three aircraft of Breeze Airways will be based at Fort Myers when the base opens for new flights on October 1.
19 destinations are currently served by the airline out of the airport, with five more new routes on the way being as follows:
- Manchester, New Hampshire – October 2 – Twice weekly.
- Lansing – October 3 – Twice weekly.
- Wilkes-Barre – October 3 – Twice weekly.
- Bangor – October 5 – Twice weekly.
Commenting on the expansion of flights out of Fort Myers was Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey:
“Breeze’s operations from Fort Myers have proven exceptionally popular”.
“It’s been one of our fastest growing airports, now reaching 19 destinations in less than two years, thanks in large part to our close partnership with the team at Southwest Florida International.”
A Strong 2024 for the Airline So Far…
Breeze Airways has had a very strong start to 2024, with the new base and flights out of Fort Myers the latest example.
Over the last four months, the airline has made a series of announcement pertinent to expansion.
Back in January, they announced eight new routes from San Diego.
In the same month, Breeze Airways also announced 11 new routes across it’s multiple bases at the time.
Such growth also prompted an additional order for 10 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with the airline aiming to be an all-A220 operator by year-end.
Other route expansions included nonstop flight additions from Manchester, New Hampshire to Fort Myers, Charleston & Orlando.
Finally, just a couple of weeks ago, the airline announced flights to five new cities being:
- Bangor
- Dallas
- Lancaster
- Lansing
- Pensacola
If you look back at the progress of Breeze Airways in 2024, you can see that it is pretty substantial.
Overall…
In conclusion, the addition of Fort Myers with new flights from Breeze Airways is a testament to their growth.
All eyes will be on the launch day in October where we will be able to see operations at it’s full potential.
If things go well over the Winter 2024/25 season, then there will be scope to expand this further in Summer 2025.
But for now, let’s see how the new base performs.
