'Biggest ever' winter program for TUI UK

TUI has announced its “biggest ever” UK winter flying program for 2023/2024 by adding 150,000 seats to its offering.

TUI, a global holiday company, will increase its UK flights, and seat capacity, during the 23/24 winter season to several destinations in North Africa – Egypt, Cape Verde, Tunisia and Morocco.

The tour operator, and its in-house airline, will operate nine additional flights during the season:

New flight to Boa Vista, Cape Verde from Birmingham.
Weekly flights to Sal, Cape Verde from Glasgow, Birmingham and East Midlands.
New weekly flight to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from Manchester, London Gatwick and Newcastle.

TUI also announced Marsa Alam as a new winter destination in Egypt with a twice-a-week service from London Gatwick.

The travel company will add 80,000 seats to Egyptian destinations, 45,000 seats to Cape Verde and 15,000 to Tunisian resorts.

In the press release issued on Thursday, TUI stated expects winter sun demand to increase through the year following positive bookings. The company cited travellers are booking further in advance for their holidays.

Andrew Flintham, TUI UK Managing Director, said: “Our North Africa destinations have gone from strength to strength with UK customers and remain a very important part of our vast holiday programme.”

TUI was recently overtaken by Jet2.com as the UK’s largest tour operator. The winter increase may be part of the efforts to re-establish the operator’s dominance in the market.

TUI UK has its roots in companies such as Britannia, Thomson and First Choice. The company offers package holidays across short-haul and long-haul destinations, cruises and other special packages.

Flintham added: “At TUI, we offer unrivalled choice and flexibility travelling to 180 destinations worldwide, flying from 20 UK airports.”

The company also announced various increases in flights for Easter 2024, again planning ahead on the back of strong Easter bookings in advance.

TUI won eight awards at the British Travel Awards ceremony in December 2022, including Best Travel Company for the summer sun holidays and Best Travel Company for the winter sun holidays.
