Azores Airlines first A320neo commences operations

Azores Airlines carried out its first commercial flight with the Airbus A320neo (New Engine Option) on Sunday January 28. The flight between Lisbon and Ponta Delgada (Azores) landed at João Paulo II Airport at 08:40. 

The inaugural commercial flight of the airline’s first Airbus A320neo, flying between Lisbon and Ponta Delgada marked something of a historic moment for the carrier as it moves through a fleet modernization from the older A320ceo.

A320neo Efficiency

At the heart of the Airbus A320neo lies state-of-the-art technology aimed at revolutionizing air travel.

Featuring the latest generation engines, known as High-Bypass engines, and advanced aerodynamic enhancements such as the Airbus Sharklet™ wings, this aircraft boasts unparalleled efficiency.

These advancements enable a remarkable 20% reduction in fuel consumption and a 5% decrease in gas emissions and noise compared to its predecessors, showcasing Azores Airlines’ commitment to environmental sustainability.

Embodying the spirit of the Azores Archipelago, each Airbus A320neo in Azores Airlines’ fleet proudly displays the word “PURE” on its fuselage.
