ACMI/charter specialist Avion Express has plans to expand its passenger and cargo operations in South America with the establishment of an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for Brazil.

The Lithuania based narrow-body ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) and Charter operator will seek to expand its airline service operations in Brazil and the surrounding region.

“As the largest economy in the region with a well-developed airline sector, Brazil presents an excellent opportunity for the development of our company.”

“Our primary objective in Brazil is to bring cost and operational efficiencies to local airlines and tour operators via our ACMI (wet/damp-lease) and Charter services,” shared Darius Kajokas, CEO of Avion Express.

“This has proven to be a strategic capacity management tool for our client airlines in Europe, including Air France-KLM Group, British Airways, Lufthansa Group, SunExpress (Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines joint venture), TUI, and many others.”

The specialist operator also supports customers from other continents, such as Flynas, Royal Air Maroc, Sky Airline, Sky Cana, VietJet Air and more.

Avion Express noted that a favourable environment conducive to overseas business entry into the Brazilian airline market exists.

This has been brought about by Brazil’s pro-business approach towards the aviation sector, coupled with the Brazilian civil aviation simplification program.

The Brazilian programme was introduced by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), in partnership with the Federal Government as a response to the Covid-19 aviation industry crisis.

Airbus A320 fleet operations

According to Mr. Kajokas, the new airline will operate a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft for both passenger and cargo ACMI and Charter operations, including Airbus A321F aircraft, which will support the airline’s freight operations.

“Our goal is to grow steadily yet firmly and expand the fleet of Avion Express Brazil to a double-digit number of aircraft within the first two years of operations.”

The AOC establishment process and the airline will be led by a seasoned executive team in the country. The new airline in Brazil is expected to commence operations in Q4 2023 or Q1 2024.

About Avion Express

Avion Express is a Lithuanian airline and aircraft leasing company. Founded in 2005, it specializes in wet lease operations, which involve providing aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance services to other airlines.

Avion Express has grown to become one of the largest narrow-body ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) operators in the world.

The airline operates a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft, including A320 and A321 models, which are widely used for short to medium-haul flights.

Avion Express offers a range of services, including full charter operations, long-term leasing, and aircraft maintenance services.

As a wet lease operator, Avion Express works with various airlines and tour operators to provide them with aircraft on a temporary basis.

This allows airlines to meet the demand for additional capacity during peak seasons, launch new routes, or replace their own aircraft during maintenance or repair periods.

The company takes care of all the necessary operational aspects, including crew training, aircraft maintenance, and insurance, allowing the client airlines to focus on their core business.

Summary

The proposed South American expansion of Avion Express is backed by its parent company Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider with 173 aircraft fleet, operating in all continents of the world.

The group currently holds 9 Air Operator Certificate in Europe and is planning to get an AOC in Indonesia in May 2023, expanding its current presence in more than 68 countries worldwide.
