Avianca: Business Class from Los Angeles

This week, Colombian flag carrier airline, Avianca, has updated its business class offering on its services to and from Los Angeles.

Avianca Offers Business Class to L.A.

Following feedback from its customers, the Colombian flag carrier, Avianca, has updated its daily Los Angeles service to now offer its business class product as yet another choice for its passengers.

At present Avianca operates a daily service between its home base in Bogotá, Colombia and Los Angeles in California, U.S. using its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Avianca’s total of 13 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners have a seating capacity of 250 seats, broken down as 28 Business class and 222 Economy class seats.

Flight AV0084 departs Colombia’s Bogotá El Dorado International Airport (BOG) at 13:10 p.m. and arrives at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 19:00 p.m. The return flight AV0083 departs Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at 20:45 p.m. and arrives back at Bogotá El Dorado International Airport (BOG) at 05:45 a.m. the following morning. All times stated are local.

At present, however, Avianca is currently operating Wamos Air aircraft on this route that have 34 Executive Cabin seats.

With their new business class offering from June 1 on this service, passengers can now have a choice of five fare options, XS, S, M and L in economy class and XXL in business class.

Passengers who chose the XXL business class option will experience the following on-board –

  • A welcome drink.
  • Dinner/lunch with three menu options as well as snacks.
  • Offers on beverages and liquors.
  • A blanket and pillow kit.
  • An amenity kit and mattress pad for night flights.
  • Complimentary entertainment system (IFE).

Passengers who chose the economy class options will experience the following on-board –

  • Dinner/lunch with two options as well as snacks.
  • Offers on beverages and liquors.
  • A blanket and pillow kit for night flights.
  • Free entertainment system (IFE).

Executive Comments


Commenting on their business class offering on their Los Angeles service, Avianca’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Manuel Ambriz, has said, “We know that going to Bogotá is almost like going to Europe. It’s a long trip and we want our customers to have the opportunity to enjoy more benefits.”

“We listened to them, we made some internal adjustments and today we are implementing the option of flying in the business cabin on a flight of seven hours. We currently operate one daily flight between Los Angeles and Bogotá and we believe that this is an important development to the route.”
