Boeing 787 Arrival

Looking ahead, Austrian Airlines has its sights set on the future, with the introduction of its first Boeing 787.

This marks a significant milestone, propelling the airline toward further growth on long-haul routes.

COO Francesco Sciortino reaffirms the airline’s commitment to excellence, stating, “We will continue to strive to be one of the top performers among European airlines.”

This dedication sets the stage for continued success in the competitive aviation landscape. Austrian Airlines isn’t just excelling in operational metrics; it’s also championing sustainability.

With the modernization of its fleet, the airline aims to reduce fuel consumption by an impressive 20%, a crucial step in minimizing its carbon footprint.

Modernization Drive in Full Swing

The ongoing fleet modernization includes the renewal of short and medium-haul aircraft. The fifth Airbus A320neo, registered as OE-LZR, departed Toulouse on December 29 and landed in Vienna at 1146 local time.

This officially marked the closeout of the year with respect to fleet movements. “The arrival of our fifth A320neo is a wonderful end to the year for Austrian Airlines and a gift for our passengers, who can look forward to even more travel comfort on board,” remarked Francesco Sciortino.

Riding on a successful year, the airline is now gearing up for the commencement of long-haul fleet modernization in 2024.
