Alaska Airlines has just announced its new daily service between San Diego and Atlanta, set to take flight on May 16, 2024.

This new route expansion further solidifies the airline’s presence in Southern California, offering travelers an impressive array of nonstop destinations.

A Southern California Hub

Alaska Airlines is set to further expand its Southern Californian footprint, boasting 37 nonstop destinations available as of next spring.

This will mean greater access to Northwest, Northeast, California, Mexico, Florida, and all four major islands in Hawaii.

What’s particularly impressive is that Alaska Airlines already provides 36 nonstop destinations from San Diego, making it the airline with the most extensive nonstop offerings at the airport.

Kirsten Amrine, the Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning for Alaska Airlines, expresses the company’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience:

“We want to provide our guests in San Diego with the most nonstop options.” She adds, “Not only are San Diego and Atlanta popular destinations for leisure travelers, but both are also major business hubs.”

“We’re excited to connect the cities, especially since Atlanta is our largest unserved transcontinental market from San Diego.”

Convenient Scheduling

Alaska Airlines understands the importance of convenient scheduling for travelers. The new San Diego to Atlanta service will operate during the day, offering passengers a hassle-free journey.

Flights will depart from San Diego in the mid-morning and arrive in Atlanta in the late afternoon. The return flight to San Diego will take off in the early evening.

These well-planned times also allow for smooth connections within the carrier’s intra-California network.

Opening Doors to New Opportunities

Kimberly Becker, President & CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, expresses her appreciation for Alaska Airlines’ expansion: “We appreciate Alaska Airlines’ new options to destinations across the country.”

“This new nonstop service to Atlanta offers Southern Californians direct access to Georgia’s capital and key economic center, while providing easy access for Georgians to the warmth and beauty of San Diego.”
