To ensure a robust recovery from the pandemic, the airline, which consistently garners accolades from various consumer ratings organizations, has outlined significant changes for its Philippine operations.

Domestic and international network expansion

Alongside an increased focus on facilitating local e-commerce and establishing engineering facilities, AirAsia also intends to expand its Philippine fleet to support both domestic and international route expansions.

“Currently, there is a pent-up demand for air travel in the leisure, migrant workforce, and SME travel segments. 80% of AirAsia’s South-East Asia traffic consists of shorter trips and affordable travel. Therefore, we aim to enhance connectivity between the Philippines and other ASEAN destinations,” added Mr. Fernandes.

To drive these major developments, recruitment will be given high priority in the coming months, with Mr. Fernandes planning to hire an additional 1,000 employees over the next three years to support AirAsia Philippines’ expansion.

This expansion will be in addition to the 6,000 jobs expected to be created through the introduction of Capital A’s ride-hailing business in the Philippines.

Commitment to growth

“My immediate priorities were to survive, bring back our staff, and recruit more talented individuals. Our most valuable asset is our people. Filipinos are intelligent, diligent, and possess exceptional personalities.”

“Therefore, we are committed to the growth of all four divisions of Capital A in the Philippines,” he emphasized.

Recently, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline initiated its cabin crew recruitment process. Another round of recruitment for cabin crew members will take place on June 26, 2023, to meet the additional staffing requirements for the third quarter of the year.
