Air Serbia set to launch Cairo flights in May

LONDON – Serbian flag carrier Air Serbia has recently announced a new service between the national capital of Belgrade to Cairo, Egypt, commencing on May 15 2023.

The Belgrade – Cairo service will see a thrice weekly frequency and will be operated by Air Serbia’s Airbus A319 type aircraft.

The announcement


Announced on January 31 2023, national carrier Air Serbia announced a new route is in the works for commencement in May of this year.

Air Serbia will now serve direct flights between Belgrade and Cairo, Egypt, three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with the inaugural flight commencing on May 15.

Fares are already possible to book at Air Serbia’s website, with the flights starting at EUR183 one way in Economy Class, all taxes included.

With its flagship Airbus A320-family fleet, Air Serbia will operate with their fleet of Airbus A319 aircraft on these routes, which the airline currently own ten of, with seven currently in service.

The new service also offers great connectivity, as passengers flying from that city via Belgrade have access to good flight connections.

These include Amsterdam, Berlin, Bari, Paris, Dusseldorf, Rome, London, Ljubljana, Madrid, Milan, Prague, Tivat, Vienna, Zurich, Zagreb and other destinations in the Air Serbia network.

Boško Rupić, General Manager Commercial and Strategy at Air Serbia, stated the following about the new route: “The culture and history of Egypt garner a lot of attention from tourists across the globe, and the specific climate makes the country of pharaohs attractive throughout the entire year.”

“By listening to the needs of passengers in Serbia, as well as the broader Balkan region, we have decided to introduce scheduled direct flights between Belgrade and Cairo.”

“Our company has been operating flights to the capital of Egypt since the summer of 2019, and we are glad that we now have the opportunity to reconnect two friendly countries,”

Italy on the charts


Earlier in December 2022, Air Serbia also announced four new routes to Italy, where the cities of Florence, Palermo, Catania and Naples were in focus.

The airline is planning to operate to new destinations twice a week during the busy summer season in 2023, using an Airbus A319 and an A320. Since the announcements, passengers have been able to purchase a ticket to these destinations.

“We are continuing the trend of introducing new destinations in the summer season. Our presence in Italy will be expanded with four attractive destinations that will offer our travelers the opportunity to enjoy different types of vacations.”

“From the unreal Dolomites and Alps in the north, through unique landscapes in Tuscany to the most beautiful beaches in the world in Sicily.”

“This is just the beginning, you can expect more good news from Air Serbia in the coming days,” said Boško Rupić, “The first of the 4 new routes will be between Belgrade and Catania, and these services will start on 14 April 2023 and will be operated on Mondays and Fridays.”

This route will have good connectivity via Belgrade, between Catania and Paris, Stockholm, Dusseldorf, Istanbul, Lyon, Zurich, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, Tivat, Prague, Zagreb, Podgorica, Vienna, Stuttgart, Hanover, Copenhagen, and other cities.

The carrier also recently entered a codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways to further strengthen its connectivity.
