In a message to it’s staff, as reported by The Telegraph India, it was confirmed by Air India CEO Campbell Wilson that five more Airbus A350s will be inducted to the fleet by June 2024.

On top of this, the airline plans to induct 17 A320 Family aircraft and 46 Boeing 737 Family aircraft over the course of this year.

The Indian carrier commenced operations with the A350 on January 22 via a service between Mumbai and Chennai.

The Airbus A350 will initially spread its wings in the domestic skies, serving as a platform for crew familiarization.

Following its domestic debut, the A350 will continue regional operations, with the aircraft operating flights from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

The airline also showcased it’s Airbus A350-900 at Wings India 2024, as the aircraft was officially inaugurated by government officials.

In a statement on social media, the carrier said the following:

“In a landmark moment, Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, today officially inaugurated the nation’s and Air India’s first Airbus A350-900 aircraft at the ongoing Wings India 2024. We’re so proud to be leading the way for India’s rising stature in global aviation.”

All eyes will be on how operations with the aircraft type will go for the Indian carrier.
