Air Arabia Egypt Inaugurates New Cairo to Istanbul Route

Air Arabia Egypt has launched its much-anticipated non-stop service between Cairo and Istanbul, Turkey.

Announced in February 2024 with a target launch for early April, the first flight from Cairo International Airport to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport took off on April 6th.

Passengers flying this route can now enjoy the convenience of three flights per week, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

For Tuesday and Thursday flights, the schedule is as follows:

  • Flight E5 987 departs Cairo International Airport at 11:15 AM local time, arriving in Istanbul at 2:30 PM.
  • The return flight, E5 988, leaves Istanbul at 3:20 PM and touches down in Cairo at 4:30 PM.

On Saturdays, Air Arabia Egypt utilizes an Airbus 320 aircraft for the route:

  • Flight E5 987 takes off from Cairo at 9:55 AM and lands in Istanbul at 1:10 PM.
  • The return flight, E5 988, departs Istanbul at 2:00 PM and arrives back in Cairo at 3:10 PM.

Milestone for Air Arabia

Commenting on the launch, Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, expressed the carrier’s enthusiasm. “We are thrilled to introduce these new non-stop flights from Cairo to Istanbul, marking a significant milestone for Air Arabia Egypt,” he said.

“This expansion reflects our commitment to providing our passengers with seamless travel options.”

“With these three weekly flights between Cairo International Airport and Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, we not only strengthen connectivity but also cater to the growing demand for travel between these two vibrant cities,” Al Ali added.

This new route adds Istanbul to Air Arabia Egypt’s growing network, bringing the total number of destinations served to 16.

Operating from its hubs in Cairo and Alexandria, the airline’s network now includes Sharjah, Bergamo, Muscat, Bahrain, Dammam, Gassim, Amman, Jeddah, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, Aljouf, Hail, Abha, and Jizan.

All-Airbus Fleet

Air Arabia Egypt boasts a modern fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 neo-LR aircraft, known for being the best-selling single-aisle airplanes globally.

Passengers can expect a comfortable journey with generous seat pitch compared to other economy cabins.

Additionally, the aircraft feature “SkyTime,” a complimentary in-flight streaming service offering a wide selection of entertainment directly on passengers’ devices. For those seeking refreshments, “SkyCafe” provides a menu of delicious and affordable snacks, meals, and sandwiches.

Recent Route Resumption: Sharjah-Gizan

Air Arabia is the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) operator. The airline recently announced the resumption of its flights from Sharjah to Gizan in Saudi Arabia.

The direct flights will connect Sharjah International Airport with King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport with a frequency of three weekly flights.
