Capacity Expansion

Aeromexico’s proactive approach to capacity growth is evident in the 13.3% year-on-year increase in total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASKs).

Unpacking this further, international ASKs recorded a substantial uptick of 23.0%, showcasing the airline’s commitment to global connectivity.

Simultaneously, a strategic recalibration in domestic capacity is observed with a 3.8% year-on-year decrease, aligning with nuanced market dynamics.

Meeting Demand: Passenger-Kilometers and Beyond

Demand, measured in passenger-kilometers (RPKs), took center stage with an impressive 16.4% year-on-year surge.

The international network sector stole the spotlight, boasting a remarkable 26.2% increase compared to December 2022.

In contrast, domestic demand maintained stability, mirroring the volume experienced in December 2022.

This followed the carrier’s reporting in November 2023, which showed that domestic demand had decreased by 4.5% compared to November 2022.

This delicate balance between international expansion and domestic equilibrium perhaps demonstrates Aeromexico’s ability to navigate and respond to market movements.

Load Factor

Aeromexico’s December 2023 load factor rose to 83.3%, marking a 2.2 percentage point increase from December 2022.

This efficiency metric becomes more intriguing when dissected into international and domestic components.

The international load factor witnessed a commendable 2.1 percentage point rise, while the domestic load factor outshone with a remarkable 3.3 percentage point increase.

In the competitive landscape of the aviation industry, Grupo Aeromexico’s December 2023 operational results serve as a testament to strategic acumen and adaptability.

The juxtaposition of international expansion and domestic fine-tuning underscores the airline’s ability to harmonize global ambitions with local nuances.
