This week has seen Aeroflot complete another aircraft settlement. This time, it is with CDB Aviation for four aircraft that were leased to the Russian carrier.

The short statement reads:

“PJSC «Aeroflot» and aircraft lessor CDB Aviation (Ireland) have reached an agreement over four planes leased to the carrier.”

“In accordance with the agreements reached, the lessor terminated its claims to the Russian parties both under insurance policies issued by Russian insurance companies and under leasing agreements with PJSC Aeroflot.”

“The ownership of the aircraft was transferred to the LLC insurance company NSK, which paid the settlement amount.”

“Aeroflot Group continues negotiations on the settlement of existing claims with other lessors of foreign-made aircraft.”

The statement didn’t give much information regarding which airframes they actually were, as part of their leasing arrangement between Aeroflot & CDB Aviation.

What we do know however is that the Russian carrier is making strong efforts to repair relations with such lessors by making these settlements.

Whether the lessors would lease aircraft to airlines in Russia again or not over this, it’s hard to tell as sanctions are still active due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Looking ahead, it does seem that Aeroflot isn’t done as of yet, and this deal with CDB Aviation is the latest in quite a few announcements made regarding aircraft settlements.

These jets will no doubt be needed for spare parts going into the future as sanctions continue to have an effect on the Russian carrier.
