Adana Routes

Reports by websites Aeroroutes and RusTourismNews have announced that Russian flag carrier, Aeroflot Russian Airlines, will launch a new route to Adana, Türkiye.

The route will connect Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO) to Adana (ADA) and is scheduled to start on 08 June 2023. The airline will use its Airbus A320 aircraft on the service.

Flights will be on a three-times-a-week basis, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The planned schedule is below:

SU2152 SVO 0750 – 1300 ADA
SU2153 ADA 1400 – 1855 SVO

The city of Adana is in eastern Türkiye. It is approximately 100 miles / 160 kilometres from the Syrian border. It is a popular destination for business and leisure travellers with various industries being present and historical hotspots.

The city has existing links with Russia. It is twinned with the city of Saint Petersburg. However, it has previously lacked direct flight connections between the two countries.

Connecting to Türkiye

With the addition of Adana, the airline now serves six destinations in Türkiye from the Russian capital. Aeroflot now operates from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Istanbul, Bodrum, Dalaman, Antalya, Izmir and soon Adana, all in the summer season.

As the restrictions on Russian airlines and businesses, since the invasion of Ukraine, are still impacting flight networks, the airline has established new or increased routes to other available destinations.

The country has been a popular tourist destination for Russians for some time. In 2022, Russian tourist were the second largest group of visitors to the country at over 5 million.

Close behind were German tourists, followed by British tourists in third. In 2019, Russian tourists were the top group of visitors with over 7 million visiting the country.

The airline has also announced regular flights to the popular tourist destinations of Dalaman and Izmir in the western part of Türkiye.

Since 06 April, flights to Dalaman were resumed with the network now offering daily services between Moscow and the Riviera airport.
