Abelo, a leading regional aircraft leasing company, is proud to announce the acquisition of four ATR72-600 aircraft through SKY Leasing.

This strategic move expands Abelo’s portfolio to a total of 57 owned and managed aircraft. The latest acquisition further solidifies their position in the regional aircraft market.

Significantly, all four ATR72-600s are currently leased to IndiGo, India’s prominent low-cost carrier. This new partnership marks a significant milestone for Abelo.

Partnership with IndiGo

“We are delighted to welcome IndiGo as a new partner,” said Stephen Gorman, CEO of Abelo. “This collaboration strengthens our portfolio and broadens our customer base, reflecting our commitment to building long-term, successful relationships.”

The ATR72-600, renowned for its efficiency and reduced environmental impact, also aligns perfectly with the vision for a greener future in air travel.

Larger turboprop aircraft represent a distinct asset class within regional aviation, and Abelo possesses a dedicated platform specifically designed for their management.

The addition of IndiGo as a customer is particularly noteworthy for Abelo. As India’s leading low-cost carrier, IndiGo has been a major player in driving domestic growth and fostering regional connectivity within the country.

IndiGo Expansion in the Regional Market

IndiGo itself has ambitious plans for regional expansion. The airline aims to leverage its new fleet additions, including these leased ATR72-600s, to connect smaller cities and cater to the rising demand for regional travel within India.

By offering cost-effective fares and efficient aircraft like the ATR72-600, IndiGo can make regional travel more accessible, stimulating economic growth and development in previously underserved areas.

This collaboration between Abelo and IndiGo presents a win-win scenario. Abelo secures a prominent customer in the fast-growing Indian aviation market.

Similarly, IndiGo gains access to modern, fuel-efficient aircraft that perfectly suit their regional expansion goals. This partnership holds significant promise for the future of regional connectivity in India.

The Indian Aviation Sector in Growth Mode

The partnership between Abelo and IndiGo takes place against the backdrop of a booming Indian aviation sector.

The country boasts the fastest-growing domestic air passenger market globally, and experts predict it will become the world’s third-largest aviation market after China and the United States by the end of the decade.

This growth is fueled by several factors. India’s expanding middle class has a growing disposable income, leading to increased demand for air travel. Additionally, government initiatives like the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme promote regional connectivity by making air travel more affordable on underserved routes.

This aligns perfectly with IndiGo’s regional expansion plans and the fuel-efficient capabilities of the ATR72-600s.

The positive outlook for the Indian aviation sector creates a favorable environment for both Abelo and IndiGo.

Abelo can tap into this growing market and expand its customer base, while IndiGo can leverage efficient aircraft to meet the rising demand for regional travel, contributing to the overall expansion of the Indian aviation industry.
