It has emerged over the weekend that a United Airlines Boeing 787 suffered a bird strike on approach into Newark.
Information has been released pertinent to this incident.

United Airlines Flight UA83 – Delhi to Newark…
United Airlines flight UA83, which suffered a bird strike, is a routine scheduled flight between Delhi and Newark.
Furthermore, the aircraft involved in this incident was N29971.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N29971 is a 6.5 year old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that was delivered to the airline in January 2018.
Of the 787-9 variant, United Airlines has 38 of them in the fleet.
Furthermore, of the 38, all of them are in active service, with an average fleet age of 6.8 years.
United Airlines flight UA83 departed Delhi at 0006 local time on June 8 and tracked west towards Newark.
As per The Aviation Herald, it is understood the bird strike happened on approach into the U.S airport.
Furthermore, the Federal Aviation Administration reported that the aircraft struck a bird, which damaged the #1 engine cowling.
United Airlines flight UA83 from Delhi, which suffered that bird strike, landed safely into Newark at 0601 local time on June 9.
Aircraft Back in Service After 15-16 Hours…
Furthermore, data from RadarBox highlights that the United Airlines 787 involved in the bird strike in Newark was grounded for less than 24 hours.
It was back in service around 15-16 hours after the incident at hand.
Furthermore, since the incident, it operated a flight to Los Angeles and then onto Sydney.
It is expected to operate the return to LAX, before continuing on to London Heathrow and then Denver.
Overall, it appears that the damage was minimal enough to encourage a return-to-service on the same day.
