The Calgary Airport Authority celebrated a banner year in its 2023 annual report, released on May 1, 2024, during its annual general meeting.

The report highlights the airport’s remarkable comeback from the pandemic and its strategic efforts to solidify YYC Calgary International Airport as a leading North American connectivity hub.

Record-Breaking Growth Marks a Year of Renewal

“2023 was a year of exceptional growth and revitalization,” stated Chris Dinsdale, President and CEO of The Calgary Airport Authority.

“We witnessed a surge in passenger numbers, established new flight partnerships, and expanded our non-stop route offerings from YYC.”

“We’ve not only recovered from the pandemic’s impact, but we’re also emerging stronger and better positioned than ever before compared to 2019.”

2023 Highlights: Milestones Achieved

  • Passenger traffic at YYC Calgary International Airport reached a staggering 18.5 million in 2023. This surpassed the previous record of 18 million set in 2019.
  • Summer 2023 became the airport’s busiest season on record, with July and August welcoming 1.95 million and 1.97 million passengers, respectively.
  • The Authority exceeded revenue expectations by 10% and achieved a 19.6% increase compared to 2022, reaching a total of $497 million.

The plan ensures a smooth and efficient travel experience for passengers in the years to come. The partnership with PCL guarantees project completion by the end of 2025.
